And since there are many different varieties of sweet pea, finding one that works for you won't take long. In this guide, we will go over any questions you might have about these fragrant, fantastic flowers.
When it starts to get warmer outside, and your plants have developed sturdy roots, you can plant them outdoors like this:
You can do this in a larger plug box, a small pot, or even in a larger pot if you plan to keep your flowers in it when it's time for them to move outside. Just make sure not to choose a pot that's too small for your plant, as sweet peas form deep and long roots.
You can also pre-soak your seeds in water, about a day before planting, to help loosen up the hard shell of the seed.
When pre-planting your seet peas, start by poking small holes in the soil, about 2-3 cm deep and with a spacing of around 7 cm if you're planting multiple plants in the same pot.
Then cover with a little soil and water until the soil is moist. Now you just have to wait until it's warm enough outdoors to plant your sweet peas. It's important that the air temperature is not below 10°C to prevent frost damage to your sweet peas. If you've planted in a pot, you can start acclimating your plants to the climate by moving them outside in the morning and bringing them in in the afternoon.
To re-plant, if needed, choose a spot in the garden that preferably sits in a sheltered position but gets plenty of sunlight. Dig a hole deep enough for the entire plant's roots, and gently remove your plant from its original pot by grasping the plant, firmly but gently, and pulling it up. If it's stuck, you can squeeze the pot (if it's soft) to loosen the roots from the walls. Then place the plant in the hole and cover with soil.

How do i plant sweet peas?
Sweet peas need ample time to develop their roots before they are ready to start blooming, so pre-sowing your seeds indoors can really help kick-start the planting process. Pre-planting can be done as early as march-april.You can do this in a larger plug box, a small pot, or even in a larger pot if you plan to keep your flowers in it when it's time for them to move outside. How do I water my sweet peas?
Since sweet peas develop deep but thin roots, it's important not to overwater to avoid root rot. Water frequently but not too much. Adding plant food from time to time is also a good idea, as sweet peas tend to take well to extra nutrients.Should I trim the flowers on my sweet peas?
Answer: Yes! If you want to get more flowers throughout the year, you should definitely trim the flowers on your sweet peas. The more you harvest, the more they bloom. If you choose not to trim them, they will instead start to develop new seeds, which manifest as pea pods. When you trim the flowers, you give the plant something else to focus its energy on, namely developing new flowers. It's also very nice, in my opinion, to have a fresh bouquet of beautifully scented sweet peas in the living room.We at by Benson wish you good luck with your sweet peas!
